Delaney at 6 months

A bit late....

June 22nd D turned 6 months. What is it about SIX MONTHS that seems so old?? I guess because it is halfway to a whole year. And that I am not even ready to think about!

Between her 4 and 6 month check ups, she made some great strides and changes.

Basic stats at 6 months:
Weight: 15 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile)
Length: 25.5 in (40th percentile)
Head circumference: 80th percentile. Hmm.

Delaney spent a good deal of May practicing and trying her hardest to roll over, and finally mastered it towards the end of the month. Now she barely stays over on her back, and almost immediately flips over on her tummy.  This has made her somewhat mobile, although its by accident, and not because she is trying to get somewhere.  She is also working on sitting up by herself, but only lasts for a few minutes before making a nosedive or getting mad.

During June D started "talking" a whole lot! Despite many discussions from me, she seems to be saying Dada. I'm gonna say that its completely coincidental, and not call it her first official word just yet. :)

We have also discovered that she is a little water bug. Maybe even more than Carter was at this age! She has always enjoyed bathtime, but in the pool her legs start kicking and she's starting to splash on purpose. I am hoping that this means we will have a successful visit to the beach at the end of the month!

Another pretty big step(for me at least!) is that she has been taking naps in her crib in her room. We finally got the crib put together and purchased(for my peace of mind) a video monitor. Naps are also done on her tummy, and not swaddled, and she will actually take good long naps in there. In the last week I have been working towards breaking her of the swaddle at night. I figure it would be best to get this habit settled before school starts again! The first night was a bit rough after a few hours, but it has improved a bit. EVENTUALLY, she will be in her room at night. Not ready for that yet! Oh yeah, and she outgrew the bassinet finally, so she sleeps at night in the pack n play in our room.

Eating wise....girly loves her bottles.  I have been trying to get her to eat oatmeal cereal(avoiding rice cereal so as not to aggravate the constipation we are fighting. I'll spare you the details, but trust me, its been ugly.), but she is just not interested in being spoon fed. Which is fantastic for giving her table food, and I am totally ok with that, but she is still not so very coordinated enough to consume the table food, just demolishes it. Doing good though! And the doctor didn't lecture me for going the Baby Led Weaning route, thank goodness.

Crosses her legs like this all the time....no clue where she gets it :)

5 months

She is a bit attached to my Grandpa

First dip in the pool

First ride in the shopping cart. This lasted only a few minutes. Not quite ready!

The walker is her new happy place. She scoots backwards all over the place.

Pigtails!!! Squeal!!!

Eating broccoli

GranPam bought her this Snow White dress, and Mrs. Twyla bought her the shoes

....which she was obsessed with!

This pile of toys screams BIG BROTHER WAS HERE!
