Dinner Menu

For your reading entertainment, I thought I would share what Carter ate tonight.

Prior to us going to dinner, I gave him a Gerber toddler meal like this one, and he ate every last bite.

At the restaurant he ate several handfuls of Cheerios and Froot Loops, a lemon slice, and drank some of a bottle.

When our food came, he LOST HIS MIND from starvation, and proceeded to eat about half of my rice and beans and several bites of Christiaan's food. He also drank some of Christiaan's lemonade. (I'm sure I will change a lovely diaper in repayment of the beans. He is a Webb, afterall!)

Just before bed he drank some more of his bottle.

And this was a light night. Some nights I think he will never stop eating! I mean, have you seen the boy?? He's never been higher than the 10th percentile in weight and height, and yet he eats more than some of my second graders. High metabolism much? Hollow leg perhaps?

I'm sure it explains the recent leap in clothing sizes....

Christmas in February

Since Dad was home from the hospital finally, we decided to have our Christmas with my mom's family. We normally have this celebration on Christmas Eve but we put off the present exchange until Mom and Dad could be there. The only thing that stunk was that Miranda had to work after 4 days of not being able to make it through the snow, so she had to miss out. We didn't take our traditional bow picture with all the girls since she wasn't there. First time in about 6 or 7 years! I didn't get many good pictures, mainly because Carter was using Christiaan and me as a jungle gym while we were opening gifts. But here are a few of what I did get.

Dad, Mom, Micah, Aly, Hayden, Grandma, and Chloe
Upside down!

Nathan and Chandler. I swear, every time you try and take their picture together, this is what you get!

It wouldn't have been a normal Christmas gathering without some sort of drama. This was the aftermath of one incident: Devin's antique snowglobe got knocked over and shattered. Drew was attempting to glue the statue inside back in its place.
The other incident that I did not get any pictures of was that Karen's yorkie Griffin fell into the frozen over pool. Christiaan went to the truck with a load of gifts and came back in saying that he was hearing a weird noise that sounded like a dog yelping. At first she suggested that it was the neighbors dog across the street, but when he said it was behind the house, about 5 people immediately ran out back. The porch light was burned out of course, and despite the darkness Christiaan and Micah found poor Griffy about waist deep in frozen water on the top step of the pool! He was stiff from being so cold, but after being blow-dryed and wrapped in a warm fleece blanket and sitting in front of the fire, he was good as new! We aren't sure if he actually fell in, as he has never done that before, or if Clyde the St. Bernard pushed him in. Seeing as how 2 other of their dogs have recently come to an untimely death, the normally soft hearted Clyde is beginning to look like a serial dog killer.
Anyways, today we are home again on another "snow"day! 5th in 2 weeks! Insanity. I have no plans of going anywhere today, even though the roads are mostly clearing, because it is still below freezing and the wind is blowing like crazy. Carter and I have caught up on some sleep that we were already behind on this week. We will see in the morning what the day brings! I am betting we will be back to school, possibly with a delayed start.
Dad got some good news at his clinic visit yesterday. He gets to stay at home until at least next Friday, only doing the IV treatments every other day, and going to the clinic for them. They want to monitor his levels more closely since last week his potassium got so high that it could have stopped his heart! They also said that the fungus in his lungs has shrunk a good deal, so the treatment is working! And there are still no blasts showing up in the bloodwork. Keep praying it away!

It's White Out Here

This morning at about 6:15 Christiaan sent me a text message telling me that it was white outside. Mr. Delkus had said on his 10:00 forecast that we should expect 1-2 inches of snow, so when I looked outside and saw ALL THE WHITE Christiaan had told me about, I knew Pete was sorely mistaken. I have to wonder if Troy Dungan would have been so off in his prediction.

So its a good thing that school had already been called off last night.

The back yard
RUNNING in the snow. Libby has 2 speeds in the snow: stop, and LIGHTING BOLT AROUND THE YARD!!!!
Heaven forbid she miss a meal. She made sure to dig out her bowl and remind me that she hadn't eaten yet. (This is one of the few STOP modes)
Brave enough to touch it!
ALL THE WHITE!!!! Glorious, beautiful, powdery snow!
We had a little accident. Apparently the lingering ice was still in fact slippery underneath the 6 inches of snow. Carter and I found this out the hard way. Luckily, we landed in the grass in a large snowdrift. I know, I know, Mother of the Year. (Yes, those are sandals on top of the PJ's. I don't have any shoes sized big enough to go over socks AND terry cloth jammies.)
Front of the house. My car is buried!
Last night Mom, Christiaan, and I chiseled the ice off the sidewalk so that Dad could get down it this morning for his appointment. We had to shovel and sweep 6 inches of snow off of it today, and then pour rock salt, only to find out they rescheduled his appointment. The doctor couldn't even make it in to the clinic!!
An attempt later in the day, after SEVERE cabin fever was setting in. It went much better, but we stayed on dry ground this time. Yes, I said DRY ground, thankyourocksalt.

Cleaning off this light....
And cleaning off that light!!
I swear, if I wake up and there is a fresh blanket of unpredicted snow, actual blood will be shed. I'm pretty sure Carter's head actually spun on its axis on more than one occasion today. He's not even eating normally! Last time I checked, the high is supposed to be 41 tomorrow, and as soon as a path clears, I'm headed to my beloved Target. And we are going to have Christmas with my mom's family tomorrow evening. Aren't you at least a little bit jealous that our Christmas will actually be white? :)

Ok, we are getting desperate over here!

So I know that I have been a little out of it lately, but did I move north of the Red River and totally block that out? Last time I checked, I still lived in DFW.....more snow forecasted overnight and another winter storm possible next week? Lord, when I prayed for a snow day this is not what I meant. Maybe I should be more specific....

So today we have hit a wall of boredom. My child, who is used to bouncing all over the place and being dragged everywhere with us, has not stepped foot out of the front door since Monday night. And even though I have long thought that he has a ridiculous amount of toys, he is totally bored by each and every one of them now. So today we got a little creative. This morning my mom filled a baggie with shaving cream and a couple drops of food coloring, taped it shut, and, well, he tried to eat it. Totally missed the point there. He spent most of the day in full destructive mode, and even a bath didn't create enough of a diversion! Tonight after he stole the paper plate off my lap and went to town with it, I put some dry pinto beans between 2 others and taped the edges shut, and that was some good entertainment for awhile!

This afternoon I decided that icey roads be darned, I needed out for a minute. Dad needed a prescription picked up from Tom Thumb, so I jumped at the chance to get it for him. I was going to take Carter with me, despite the frigid temps, but just walking out to warm up my car I almost fell several times, on the grass even. So he stayed with GranPam while I got the prescription and some essentials:

ingredients for homemade pizza
Double Stuff Oreos
diapers
freezable teething toy
toddler snack cup
mini light saber
inflatable punch balloon
peppermint mocha Starbucks
two party burritos from Taco Bueno

The light saber and punch balloon were entertaining for approximately three minutes a piece, the snack cup was promptly thrown across the kitchen in frustration after the cheerios would not pour easily out, and the teething toy was later used as an ice pack after Grand Dude's walker was mistaken for a jungle gym.

Y'all.

I'm done. I should have gotten some Baileys for my Starbucks. Anyone want to rescue me??

I know I should be grateful for all this time with Carter, but we are not sit around the house people, we are we have 5 million things on our daily agenda people. This is totally throwing him(and me!) out of whack!

I do think that this unusual weather is a sign from God. One that has nothing to do with global warming(I have opinions about that anyways), or a warning about the end of times. My reasons are two-fold. One, what better timing that Dad has been allowed a week at home after over a month at the hospital, and I am forcibly made to stay home from school. Praise God. Two, Jerry Jones, you are a fool for throwing money away like you do. Take the hint, quit flaunting your billions and pass it along to others who are in need, like my more than deserving parents. Seriously, how much more of a slap in the face straight from heaven can you get??

Anyways, we may have to get even more creative with entertainment tomorrow if we can't leave the house again. I am going to attempt to clean out my closet. Oh, and glory hallellujah, I found my favorite cozy mittens in a bag in my closet, just in time to scrape the ice off the sidewalk!

Blog Award

(I really should have titled this post "I've been trapped in my house for going on 3 days and my dear, sweet friend Meagan tagged me in her blog awards post so I'm writing this post")

Like I said, Meagan awarded me one of her ten spots for her Stylish Blog awards. I met her about 4 years ago when my BFF Brooke moved into the infamous Saratoga neighborhood. We discovered we have some random things in common, for instance, how our heart rates increase at the mere mention of THUNDERSTORMS! or TORNADO! or SNOW! This also included our affection for the beloved Troy Dungan of WFAA fame. Along with Brooke and Meagan's BFF Chay, we have had many intense marathon girl conversations over these last few years. Meagan and her hubby Adam had their first baby, sweet Miss Preslie back in August. I miss her terribly!

So here are the rules she gives for the awards:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you
2. Share seven things about yourself
3. Award ten great bloggers. (I am probably not going to be able to come up with ten, because a lot of my favorite blogs are random strangers that would probably think I was a stalker if I tagged them!)
4. Contact those bloggers and tell them about the award

Seven things about me

1. Although my career choice has ended up being a 2nd grade teacher, some others that were seriously considered were storm chaser(no, for real), nurse(made it halfway through nursing school before I quit), a brief career as an office manager for a propane company(possibly the most unglorious office job ever), and I worked in banking all through college. Someday, if I ever get tired of teaching for some reason, I may go back to nursing school. But ultimately? If I was rich? I would buy a huge piece of land and open a no-kill animal shelter that would accept any type of creature, with the exception of snakes.

2. I am terrified of snakes. Like immediate panic attack ensuing-can't even see them on TV or in a book-avoid the reptile house at the zoo-scared of snakes. Seriously, if you decide you hate me and want to see me turn from a (mostly)put together and calm in emergency situations person to a crying, screaming, jumping on the nearest couch while trying not to pass out person, please put a live snake in my presence. I quit Girl Scouts in elementary school because I found out that my troop leader had a pet python in their master bedroom, and I couldn't bring myself to walk into their house. I have to quit writing about them now because I am getting the creeps.

3. I went for somewhere around 3 years without eating meat, until about halfway through my pregnancy. I have never really cared for meat of any kind, especially red meat, and one day it literally just disgusted me and I quit eating it. I have not given it up again after Carter was born, but I still could go without eating meat. I would prefer veggies of any kind, and if I do eat meat it is generally fish, chicken, ground turkey, an occasional steak, and hot dogs. Along these lines, I only drink water. I have never in my life drank a coke of any kind.

4. I love hot dogs. The best ever are at Rangers games. Dollar Dog Night was the greatest invention ever. The first one that I attended was on my 18th birthday, and before I knew it I had put away 8 hot dogs, loaded with all four available toppings. Please refrain from reminding me of what they are made of, I just don't care.

5. I have been known to state my opinion, even if you didn't ask for it. I am not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing, as it has definitely gotten me in trouble on more than one occasion, but I think that maybe people won't see me as fake. What you see is what you get. I am trying to work on controlling my opinions more though. :)

6. God has blessed me by putting some of the most amazing people in my life. Starting with my parents and the rest of my incredible family, all the way down to my awesome friends. I definitely never lack for support on any occasion in my life, most evidenced by all that has happened in the last year and a half. This could be a whole blog post in itself!

7. I can't think of anything for #7, so I'll give the straight facts, I have an amazing boyfriend named Christiaan, a ridiculously cute son named Carter, a multi-colored-eyed mutt named Libby, a chocolate Lab puppy named Lola, and a bunch of fish. I love Rangers baseball, medical TV shows, stalkingreading other people's blogs, and laughing with my friends.

People I Tagged

1. Emily. She and I met the first week of our freshman year of high school, danced together and were best friends all through high school. She is one of the few people from high school that I have kept in regular contact with since HS, and oddly enough, our babies were born on the same day! She was induced just hours before my water broke, so Carter and her Molly are birthday buddies!

2. Brianna. Ok, she hasn't written a single blog post yet since I finally convinced her to start blogging last week, but she assures me that she will write one tomorrow, as she is also trapped in her house. She and I have known each other since she was born, as our parents were best friends through church when we were young. We sorta lost touch over our teenage and young adult years, but have reconnected in the last few years and our boys are a month apart.

3. Shiloh. She is my second cousin. We are the same age, and her daughter Addie and Carter are a few months apart. She and her husband live in Colorado. (Jealous!!)

4. Chay. She is Brooke's neighbor and Meagan's BFF. She has a hilarious husband named Jake and their adorable little Bentley is a couple months older than Carter. I'll tag you Chay Chay, even though Meagan didn't! :) hehe

5. Kathy. I met her in nursing school, only she actually finished! We recently reconnected through Facebook, as she lives with her husband and 3 gorgeous kids in Canada!

6. Katie. She teaches 4th grade at my school. She is truly an amazing teacher and an inspiration to me. She and her husband have 2 precious baby girls that are about a year and a half apart! Brave souls!

Ok, so I only have 6. Sorry. I normally don't participate in survey type thingys on email and such, but this was actually fun! And please, someone give me a pat on the back for figuring out how to make hyperlinks in a post!

P.S. Pat yourself on the back if you read this whole thing.
P.P.S. I wish I always had enough time to post the amount of blogs like I have this week!

Snowmaggedon 2011

Good gravy its cold outside.

I wish I could say I was excited enough about the "snow" to go outside and play in it, but its really more along the lines of a skating rink, roughly from the edge of the porch as far as the eyes can see. And I seem to have misplaced every single one of the 30 pairs of gloves and mittens that I own. I have a feeling that a few of them are in the trunk of my car, but it is frozen solid. I ventured out to move Mom's car from in front of the mailbox earlier and after slipping and sliding to the car and back, I was a frozen popsicle. Apparently the temperature has reached a low that Uggs and Green Poofy cannot even help. So, we are staying indoors!

What I am super excited about is the day off from school! Especially since Dad was released from the hospital yesterday to spend a few days at home! I just wish I would not have doubted Pete Delkus' forecast and brought home some stuff to work on.

Last week I discovered an app for my iPhone called Blogpress that is super easy to post from! I was never able to figure out how to post both text and pictures through mobile blogging, so I gladly paid the $2.99 app fee for this thing. Bonus...I can even post the videos that I take on my phone!

I would like to pass along grand stories of all the adventures we have had over the past week, but aside from Carter getting new shoes that help him walk even better, I honestly cannot even remember anything else. Oh and when I had my hair appointment last weekend, Mindy gave me a brand new product that has changed my life. Its perfect for me since I wear my hair wavy a lot, and it is much better than my current means of styling because it isn't stiff like mousse or gel. And it smells AMAZING!

(How lame am I, that the highlights of my week were my son walking and a new hair product??)
(Carter walking is HUGE though!)

Is anyone else ready for the Super Bowl to be over so the media will go back to reporting important things, like shootings and robberies in South Dallas? OVER IT! I am giggling inside though thinking about Jerry Jones popping Xanax so he doesn't lose it over how this weather is affecting his income.

Alright I guess that is enough rambling.

Just a little late on these! 10 month bear pictures! Didn't really get many good ones this time.
We decided to try moving the location of the photo shoot to the rocking chair, but it wasn't much easier!

Sweet boy!

We took advantage of the unseasonably beautiful weather and played outside a little on Sunday. I am pretty sure that Toby the Cat weighs more than Carter does!

Look at my big boy!

Carter has started doing this new thing where he sits completely still for a few seconds and then jerks his whole body, and you have to act like it scared you! I would love to catch it on video, but he usually does it during diaper change time so I don't exactly have a free hand to video! :) He's a total ham though.
Sorry for the complete randomness of this! My brain is mush these days!
